Prague Water and Sewerage (PVK) will commence emergency repairs on a water main in Dolní Počernice on Wednesday, July 9, beginning at 8 AM. Residents in the eastern metropolitan area will have access to alternative drinking water supplies during the outage.
The location of the breakdown is in a field adjacent to Národních hrdinů Street, at its intersection with Černodolská Street. According to company spokesperson Tomáš Mrázek, approximately 23,866 customers will be affected across multiple districts including Dolní Počernice, Běchovice, Újezd nad Lesy, Klánovice, and the delivery points of Šestajovice, Květnice, and Sibřina.
PVK has assured residents that alternative drinking water supplies will be arranged throughout the affected areas. “We recommend monitoring our website for an updated list of locations with water tankers,” Mrázek advised. “Customers who have activated the SMS-INFO service will also receive updates through this platform.” Real-time information about the progress of repairs will be available on the PVK website in the emergency section.
This repair highlights the complexity of Prague’s extensive water infrastructure. PVK operates a water supply network spanning 3,690 kilometers, with nearly another kilometer dedicated to water service connections. The company provides drinking water to approximately 1.4 million residents of the capital city and 250,000 residents of the Central Bohemian Region.
Residents in eastern Prague are advised to prepare for the water outage by storing sufficient water for immediate needs and keeping updated through official channels for the duration of the repairs.
