The current above-average warm weather, which was accompanied by tropical nights in many places from Monday to Tuesday, is expected to continue throughout the rest of the week, according to meteorologists. Next week, however, it should cool down a bit, making the nights more bearable, and the temperatures should align with long-term averages until the beginning of August. This outlook comes from the monthly forecast of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ).
The forecast covers a four-week period from July 15 to August 11. Meteorologists predict that the current week will be unusually warm compared to long-term averages. Afternoon highs are expected to hover around 30°C, and nighttime temperatures often will not drop below 20°C, the threshold for tropical nights.
“The following week, it will cool down, and average temperatures will drop to long-term norms or slightly below. Maximum temperatures will most often be around 25°C, and especially the nights will be cooler and more bearable,” said the ČHMÚ. For the remainder of the period, afternoon highs are expected to range between 24 and 29°C, while morning temperatures will most often drop to between 16 and 11°C. Tropical episodes cannot be ruled out but are expected to be short-lived.
Regarding precipitation, meteorologists anticipate a return to normal or somewhat drier weather after a relatively wet period. Weekly precipitation totals are expected to be around 10 millimeters, with only the end of the period in the second week of August forecasted to be wetter again.
The average temperature from July 15 to August 11 is 19.4°C, and the average precipitation total is 75 millimeters. These figures suggest a return to more typical weather patterns for this time of year.
