Meteorologists have warned that the Czech Republic is set to experience tropical heat on Saturday. Temperatures are expected to exceed 31°C, with some areas in South Moravia potentially reaching as high as 35°C, according to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) on Friday.
Meteorologists have explained that a warm air influx from the south will peak on Saturday ahead of an undulating cold front from Germany over the Czech Republic. This weather pattern is responsible for the soaring temperatures that have prompted the warning.
The high-temperature warning is valid on Saturday from noon to 8 PM and affects Prague as well as parts of the Central Bohemian, Hradec Králové, South Bohemian, Pardubice, South Moravian, Olomouc, Zlín, and Moravian-Silesian regions. In some areas of South Moravia, an even more severe warning for extremely high temperatures has been issued.
High temperatures pose a significant strain on the human body. Children, the elderly, and individuals with health issues are advised to limit their exposure to direct sunlight and refrain from strenuous physical activities. Staying hydrated is also crucial, the ČHMÚ emphasized.
Moreover, meteorologists have noted that when temperatures exceed 35°C, the risk of rail track warping and fractures increases. This adds another concern, especially for transportation safety and infrastructure integrity.
In summary, while the anticipated heat might be ideal for a day by the pool, it brings several risks that require attention and caution. Citizens are encouraged to heed the meteorological warnings and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this sweltering period.
