As the Czech Republic experiences its hottest week of the year, residents are in for a brief respite from the scorching temperatures. According to meteorologist Dagmar Honsová, the weekend will bring a cooling trend, accompanied by increased cloud cover and thunderstorms.
Thursday’s forecast predicts temperatures ranging from 31 to 35°C, with the heat index reaching up to 37°C. Despite the sweltering conditions, a high-pressure system will gradually reduce the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.
Friday will see mostly clear to partly cloudy skies, with isolated showers possible. Morning temperatures will range from 15 to 20°C, climbing to 28-32°C during the day, with southeastern regions potentially reaching 34°C.
The weekend will bring a noticeable change in weather patterns. Saturday will start partly cloudy, but conditions will deteriorate as the day progresses. Expect increasing cloud cover, showers, rain, and potentially strong thunderstorms, particularly in western areas. Temperatures will range from 15 to 20°C in the morning and 27 to 31°C during the day.
Sunday will mark the coolest day of the period, with temperatures dropping to 20-25°C, though eastern regions may still see highs of 28°C. The day will be mostly cloudy to overcast, with showers, rain, and occasional thunderstorms.
However, the cooler weather won’t last long. According to Honsová, high pressure will begin to influence the region again on Monday, accompanied by warm southwestern air currents. This shift signals a return to genuine summer weather, with temperatures expected to climb back to around 30°C in the coming week.
