Prague’s Václav Havel Airport has handled over 15 million passengers through November 2024, marking an impressive 18% increase from the previous year’s figures. The airport anticipates reaching 16.2 million passengers by year’s end, showcasing a strong recovery in air travel demand.
London remains the most popular destination from Prague, with nearly 113,000 travelers in November alone and over 1.2 million passengers throughout the year. Other top destinations include Paris, Milan, Amsterdam, and Rome.
The airport’s winter schedule, effective since October 27, features 56 airlines operating routes to 115 destinations. New connections to Liverpool and Bahrain have been added, though the network hasn’t yet reached its pre-pandemic level of 121 destinations.
Cargo operations have shown remarkable growth, with the airport handling 59,479 tons of cargo through November – nearly 50% more than the previous year. Notably, this year’s cargo volume surpassed all of 2023’s total by September.
While the numbers are impressive, they still fall short of the 2019 record of 17.8 million passengers. Airport management expects to reach pre-Covid levels by the end of 2025. The airport’s financial health has improved significantly, with a net profit of 1.5 billion Czech crowns last year, up 1.2 billion from 2022.
