Temperature Plunge Ahead: 8-Degree Drop Expected Within Hours

Weather enthusiasts are in for a dramatic show as a sharp cold front is set to sweep across the country. While Thursday will bring spring-like temperatures reaching 10°C (50°F), a “rather sharp” cold front will abruptly end this mild spell.

The western half of the country will experience the most dramatic change, with afternoon highs near 10°C before a sudden evening cooldown. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute warns that some areas could see temperatures plummet by as much as 8°C in less than two hours.

This dramatic weather shift won’t come quietly – the cold front will be accompanied by precipitation transitioning quickly from rain to snow, along with strong winds.

Friday will see temperatures hovering around freezing point, with snowfall expected to continue through the weekend. This is particularly good news for ski enthusiasts, as northern and northeastern mountain areas are expected to have ideal skiing conditions.

Looking ahead, next week could bring yet another change, with the possibility of significant warming following a period of temperature inversion.
