The strategy of the Czech Republic is to gradually reduce the number of vaccination centers and increase the capacity of large centers. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš told reporters before the meeting of EU leaders in Porto. At the same time, it relates to multiple mobile vaccination teams.
Strategy milestones
“Our policy is to reduce the number of vaccination sites. There were 240 of them, and now there are under 200. And rather to increase the capacity of large centers,” Babiš said.
According to Prime Minister, Czechia now has to deal with introducing a more significant number of mobile vaccination teams, which would reach people who are ill and have trouble getting to a general practitioner or a vaccination center. In the morning, he talked about it with Petr Šnajdárek, who is in charge of the Smart Quarantine for the army.
Vaccination speed
A new type of coronavirus has been vaccinated in the Czech Republic since the end of December, and healthcare professionals have administered almost 3.6 million doses of vaccine. 1.04 million people have completed vaccinations. More than 80,000 people were vaccinated for the second time in a row on Friday. The last three days were a record in terms of the number of vaccinated.
But the government’s ambition was to vaccinate 100,000 people a day after Easter. The capacity of vaccination centers and surgeries where general practitioners are vaccinated allows for such a rapid response, but vaccinations are in short supply.
This week, the Minister of Health Petr Arenberger recommended to elderly patients waiting for vaccination against covid-19 at a general practitioner to use a large vaccination center. Last week, 30,000 people over the age of 80 and 100,000 people aged 70 to 79 were waiting for the vaccine in surgeries, according to Petr Onka, chairman of the Association of General Practitioners.
