According to Health Minister Petr Arenberger, people will be able to take two PCR tests for COVID-19 and four tests for antigens using public health insurance starting in June. Arenberg said there will be a special regime during the holidays, so that PCR and antigen tests will be available for travellers and be free of charge. But to make this decision, one more meeting of the government is required.
Currently, the cost of antigen tests is reimbursed every three days. However, a PCR test must be ordered by a doctor or hygienist. On Friday (May 21st), the minister announced a reduction in the cost of tests for insurance companies and payers. The cost of the PCR test will be about 600 CZK, but now the insurance company pays about 1200 CZK for the test. An antigen test will now cost 250 CZK.
This is attributed mostly to the summer holidays. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš called the importance of the state resolving the issue of citizens returning from vacations in a better way than last year. People would be required to pass a coronavirus test as PCR, after returning from a vacation, according to Babiš.
