Although the government initially announced the end of the requirement to show proof of COVID certificates on Wednesday, February 9, the change will not finally take effect until midnight on Wednesday to Thursday.
The government must first approve it at a meeting on Wednesday. Ondřej Jakob, a spokesman for the ministry, confirmed this on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, February 2, the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) announced that it had abolished the obligation in the current measure to prove vaccination or illness before entering restaurants, clubs, or gambling halls or when staying in hotels.
In response, Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) said that the cabinet would relax the restrictions after the postponement expires on Wednesday, February 9. It has now emerged that people will have to prove themselves for one more day.
According to the interpretation of the ministry’s lawyers, the obligation does not end until Thursday.
