August Set to Be Cool and Rainy

Weather forecasts for August won’t please lovers of tropical temperatures. According to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ), the beginning of the month will be significantly cooler than normal, with temperatures gradually returning to seasonal averages as the month progresses.

“We expect the first two weeks (July 28-August 10) to be below average temperature-wise, the third week on the borderline between average and below-average, while the fourth week (August 18-24) should see normal temperatures,” reports the ČHMÚ.

The coldest period will be the transition from July to August, with maximum temperatures barely exceeding 20°C. Friday will bring a brief respite, especially in South Moravia, where temperatures might reach up to 27°C. However, cooling is expected to return over the weekend.

During the week of August 4-10, Wednesday or Thursday will likely be the coolest days, with temperatures gradually rising toward the weekend. Average highs during this period will hover around 23°C, with lows around 11°C. By mid-August, maximum temperatures could reach a more summer-like 25°C, with minimum temperatures around 12°C, although daily variations may be significant.

Precipitation forecasts indicate the first week (July 28-August 3) will be average to above average, while the following three weeks should see normal rainfall levels. The first week is expected to be particularly rainy, with precipitation decreasing in subsequent weeks. However, meteorologists don’t anticipate periods of meteorological drought.
