Chilly Weekend Ahead: Czech Republic Braces for Temperature Drop and Frost

The Czech Republic is set for a significant weather shift this week, with temperatures taking a dramatic plunge from summer-like warmth to near-freezing conditions by the weekend.

The week starts on a warm note, with temperatures reaching above 20°C, but a cold front will gradually sweep through the country. Thunderstorms are expected to accompany this transition, particularly in regions stretching from southern and eastern Bohemia through the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands to the Jeseníky Mountains. These storms could bring intense rainfall, hail, and strong wind gusts.

By Thursday, a significant change will take hold as a low-pressure system moves in from the south and southeast. The sky will become predominantly cloudy to overcast, with occasional rain and scattered thunderstorms. A notable north to northeastern wind will make temperatures feel cooler than the measured 16-21°C.

Friday marks the beginning of the real cold snap, with daytime temperatures only reaching 10-14°C, though the eastern regions might see slightly warmer conditions up to 17°C. The day will start with widespread cloud cover and rain, with thunderstorms possible in the southeastern half of the country.

The weekend will bring particularly chilly conditions, with night temperatures dropping to between 5 and 1°C, potentially falling below freezing in some areas. Daytime temperatures will struggle to reach 10-15°C. While the sky will be partly to mostly cloudy, precipitation will be limited, though mountain areas might see some snow.
