The Czech army is prepared for all scenarios of the conflict in Ukraine. Still, it is not in anyone’s interest for the situation to escalate further, according to the head of the defense ministry, Jana Černochová (ODS). Military medical services are also in play, should it be necessary.
“It is not in anyone’s interest to escalate the situation further. However, the Czech Army is ready for all scenarios,” Cernochová said after the meeting of the State Security Council.
The Defence Ministry is continuously evaluating all available information, she said.
At the same time, the ministry is also considering using military medical services, should that be necessary. According to Černochová, it is not yet in the cards for the Czech Republic to send troops to Ukraine. “The request has not been made. It is not on the table at the moment,” she said.
On the other hand, the Czech Republic is preparing humanitarian aid. “It is important to help people affected by Russian aggression and need humanitarian aid. We have decided to step up aid towards Ukraine; we are releasing CZK 300 million,” said the head of the government, Petr Fiala (ODS).
“There are no signals that our country or citizens are in imminent danger,” the Prime Minister also stressed.
