Dr. Oetker Ends Manufacturing Operations in Czech Republic

The German food giant Dr. Oetker has announced the closure of its manufacturing facility in Kladno, Czech Republic, leading to the layoff of 114 out of 188 employees. The company cited rising costs and limitations in modernizing the facility to meet current production requirements as the primary reasons for this decision.

This closure marks a significant shift in the company’s Czech operations, as the Kladno facility was Dr. Oetker’s only manufacturing plant in the country. The company plans to relocate production to its other international manufacturing facilities, ensuring continued product availability in the Czech market.

In a move to support affected employees, Dr. Oetker has committed to providing severance packages exceeding legal requirements and will assist workers in finding new employment opportunities. The company has emphasized that the future employment of Kladno facility workers remains their top priority for 2025.

While manufacturing operations will cease, the administrative staff will continue to manage product distribution throughout the Czech Republic.
