Easter Treats Set to Cost More This Year: Chocolate and Eggs See Price Surge

Easter celebrations will be more expensive this year as chocolate treats and eggs face significant price increases. According to analysis from Kupi.cz, Easter chocolate bunnies and other confectionery have seen price hikes of up to 20% compared to last year, with some items doubling in price.

The most dramatic increase was seen in Orion’s chocolate bunny with M&Ms. The 85-gram treat that cost 42.90 crowns last year now retails at 89.90 crowns – a staggering 110% increase. Even discounted prices show a 68% jump. However, it’s not all bad news: Milka’s filled chocolate eggs (128g) have maintained their regular price, with only a modest 4% increase in promotional pricing.

Egg prices have also soared, with a pack of ten now costing around 68 crowns – nearly 10% more than in February and about 50% higher than last March. The surge is attributed to bird flu affecting coastal European countries and the USA, leading to market shortages.

Despite these increases, shopping expert Monika Kopčilová suggests that savvy consumers can still save by watching for sales, which typically offer around 28% discounts. The best deals usually appear just before Easter, with potential savings of up to 50%.
