Faster, More Cost-Effective Training: Czech Air Force Pilots to Train on New L-39 Skyfox Simulator in Pardubice

Novinky

The Czech military is taking a significant leap forward in pilot training with the introduction of a cutting-edge flight simulator for the L-39 NG Skyfox jet aircraft in Pardubice. The new training center, representing an investment of approximately 200 million Czech crowns, will begin operations in late April.

This state-of-the-art “full mission” simulator enables pilots to practice all procedures as they would in an actual aircraft. From takeoffs and landings to radar operations and combat missions, the facility promises to make training both more efficient and economical. Each pilot’s training program includes 150 flight hours, with at least 50 hours dedicated to simulator training.

The simulator features an impressive dome with a realistic L-39 NG cockpit and spherical projection system, complete with aircraft systems sounds, engine noise, and voice communications. What sets this facility apart is its ability to simulate various weather conditions, seasons, and emergency scenarios, providing a comprehensive training environment.

Looking ahead, the center is preparing to train pilots for the F-35A Lightning II fighters, with the first of 24 ordered aircraft expected to be ready by 2029. The facility currently serves both Czech military personnel (80% of capacity) and NATO alliance partners.
