Czech motorists should consider purchasing their highway vignettes in December before prices increase in the new year. The annual vignette will see a moderate increase of 140 CZK, reaching 2,440 CZK starting January 2025.
The price adjustment, implemented through automatic valorization, reflects inflation rates and highway network expansion – marking the first time such a systematic approach has been used. Short-term options will also see slight increases, with 30-day vignettes priced at 460 CZK, 10-day at 290 CZK, and single-day passes at 210 CZK.
Drivers can purchase vignettes up to 30 days in advance through official channels including www.edalnice.cz, edalnice.gov.cz, Czech Post offices, or EuroOil gas stations. Electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles remain exempt from vignette requirements, while CNG, biomethane, and plug-in hybrid vehicles qualify for 50% or 75% discounts.
For Czech-registered vehicles, the process is straightforward – simply enter your license plate number, and the system automatically determines the appropriate vignette price based on your vehicle type. Drivers can also set up notifications for expiration reminders through email or SMS.
Authorities warn against unofficial sellers who charge additional fees. While legal when disclosed, these unnecessary markups can be found on approximately twenty different websites and at border rest stops, often targeting unsuspecting tourists.
