A couple from America traveled to Prague for a special occasion – an engagement. However, their joy was cut short when they discovered the missing engagement ring worth a quarter of a million Czech crowns. The man had brought the white gold ring with a diamond all the way from America and left it in the hotel room to wait for the right moment. Unfortunately, the moment never arrived as the ring vanished.
The detectives immediately launched an investigation into the case. They discovered that no one had forced their way into the room, and nothing was visible on the cameras. Clearly, someone with access to the room had stolen the ring. Therefore, they began to look into the hotel’s housekeeping staff, which eventually led to the discovery of the culprit.
One of the housekeepers, a 50-year-old woman, confessed to the theft and returned the ring voluntarily during her interrogation. The detectives were able to return the stolen ring to its owner. The woman was arrested and charged with theft. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison.
