As with every year, the upcoming public holidays will shift pension payment dates slightly.
The turn of the year and the allocation of funds for pension payments in 2023 will affect the shift in January’s non-cash pension payment due dates.
They will already be postponed because of Christmas
Over the next year, the due date of payments will be postponed ten times in total, the Czech Social Security Administration (CSSA) has announced.
The Christmas holidays will slightly postpone the payment of old-age, disability, and survivors’ (widows’, widowers,’ and orphans’) pensions. Pensions due to be paid on Christmas Eve will be delivered on Friday, December 23.
People who receive their pension payments in cash on the 2nd of each month will have their January payment credited to their accounts on January 3, 2023, or in exceptional cases, on the next working day, January 4. Those with pensions credited on the 4th and 6th of each month will already receive their January payment in due course.
“This is an extraordinary measure related to the fact that the ČSSZ can only draw the funds intended for pension payments in 2023 on January 2, 2023. In the following months, the CSSA will already provide pension payments in the normal way, and clients with a payment date set for the 2nd day of the month will have their pension payments in their accounts on that day at the latest,” the administration said in a press release.
Due to the holidays, there will be a total of 10 changes to the pension payment date next year.
Pensions are paid by the Czech Social Security Agency either by a cashless transfer to the client’s bank account or cash via the Czech Post to the client’s home address. The pensioner chooses the method of pension payment when applying for the pension benefit, with the proviso that they can request a change at any later time through the district social security administration.
Pensions are always paid in advance, in regular monthly installments. The dates of the pension payments are even, from the 2nd to the 24th of the month. The CSSA also pays pensions to year-round social services institutions, where pensions are paid on the 15th of the month.
