Major Water Leak Disrupts Prague Metro Service at Key Transit Hub

A significant water leak has forced the closure of Florenc metro station on Line C in Prague, with authorities expecting the disruption to last several days. While trains continue to pass through the station without stopping, Line B remains operational at the interchange.

The incident occurred Sunday evening when water began massively seeping onto the platform following damage to a water supply line during ceiling renovation works. The flooding extended to the track bed and affected passing trains.

Prague’s water utility company expects to resolve the technical issues by Monday at 4 PM, though the transport authority has not yet confirmed when the station will reopen to passengers.

To minimize disruption, transportation officials have implemented alternative travel options. A special XC tram service has been introduced, running from Hlavní nádraží (Main Station) to Florenc, primarily serving passengers with limited mobility. The service operates at 15-20 minute intervals.

Florenc, which serves as a major transfer point alongside Muzeum and Můstek stations, remains accessible on Line B. Passengers on Line C are advised to use Hlavní nádraží station and available tram services.
