McDonald’s Czech Success Story: Revenue Soars as Delivery Takes Center Stage

The American fast-food giant McDonald’s has reported an impressive 11% revenue growth in the Czech Republic, reaching 10.6 billion Czech crowns in 2024. The chain welcomed 53.5 million customers last year, marking a two-million increase from the previous year. With six new locations added, McDonald’s now operates 129 restaurants across the country.

Expansion continues at a rapid pace, with new restaurants opening in cities like Třebíč and Kunovice. According to Communications Director Tomáš Myler, the chain has already launched new locations in Kladno, the Litoměřice region, and Prague this year. The company has also invested hundreds of millions of crowns in modernizing existing locations.

Digital transformation is driving significant growth, with delivery services processing nearly four million orders last year – a one-third increase from 2023. The chain’s mobile app has seen particular success, with order volume increasing by more than 60% compared to the previous year.

The classic cheeseburger remains the chain’s most popular item, with 20.5 million units sold, followed by the Big Mac and french fries. This success comes as fast-food establishments now represent 12-15% of all dining establishments in the Czech Republic.

The market is becoming increasingly competitive with new international players like Popeyes entering the scene, and others like Wendy’s and Five Guys planning their arrival. However, McDonald’s views this competition positively, seeing it as motivation for service improvement.
