In the southern regions of the country, thunderstorms can be very severe on Monday, prompting meteorologists to update their warning. Most areas are expected to experience “only” severe thunderstorms. The first storms began forming in South Bohemia before noon.
In parts of the South Bohemian and South Moravian regions and also Vysočina, very severe thunderstorms are expected until the evening. These storms could be accompanied by torrential rains with precipitation around 50 and exceptionally up to 70 millimeters. Hail and wind gusts may also occur.
“The main risk will be high rainfall due to high humidity and slow movement of the storms,” stated the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ).
Strong thunderstorms are expected in most areas, except for Karlovy Vary, Ústí nad Labem, Liberec, and parts of Plzeň, Central Bohemia, Moravian-Silesian, Olomouc, and Zlín regions; torrential rains with precipitation around 40 to 60 millimeters are a threat.
On the east side, temperatures will exceed 31°C in the afternoon, and a high-temperature warning is in effect. Meteorologists emphasized the need for caution due to the potential for smaller hail and stronger wind gusts during thunderstorms.
As the weather patterns continue to fluctuate, residents are advised to stay informed and prepared for sudden changes. The unpredictable weather highlights the importance of understanding the potential dangers and taking necessary precautions.
Stay safe and follow meteorological service updates to navigate these severe weather conditions.
