Metro Line C to Halt Service Starting Thursday

Commuters in Prague must brace for transportation disruptions as a significant section of Metro Line C through the city center will suspend operations from Thursday through Sunday. The Prague Transport Company announced that due to scheduled maintenance, trains won’t run between Nádraží Holešovice and Pražského povstání stations on Thursday and Friday, with the closure area shortening over the weekend.

Alternative transportation options will include replacement bus line XC and tram line 36, which will connect key transfer points. The trams will operate along a route from Vozovna Pankrác through downtown stations including I. P. Pavlova, Karlovo náměstí, and Václavské náměstí, continuing to Florenc and terminating at Vozovna Kobylisy.

“Essential repairs and infrastructure maintenance cannot be carried out during regular operations,” stated the Transport Company. They advise passengers to use alternative routes and anticipate longer travel times.

The service interruption will continue through the weekend, though the affected section will be reduced by two stations toward Háje. On Saturday and Sunday, Metro Line C won’t operate between Holešovice and I. P. Pavlova stations. Information about these changes will be displayed on information boards throughout stations and on the company’s website.

This disruption adds to ongoing renovations affecting the metro system. Since January of this year, the Pankrác station on Line C has been closed for approximately twelve months, with trains passing through without stopping in both directions.
