Prague’s bustling metro system will face another planned disruption this weekend as Line C undergoes crucial maintenance work. The stretch between Hlavní nádraží (Main Station) and Vltavská stations will be temporarily closed, marking another step in the ongoing reconstruction of the ceiling slab at Florenc station.
The Prague Transport Company has meticulously planned 26-weekend closures to facilitate this essential work. Replacement bus services ensure commuters can still navigate the city with ease. This weekend’s closure is part of a larger effort to maintain and improve Prague’s vital underground infrastructure.
A replacement bus service, Line XC, will be operating to minimise inconvenience. This service will depart from Opletalova Street near Hlavní nádraží, making stops at key locations including Masarykovo nádraží, Bílá labuť, Těšnov, Štvanice, and Vltavská, before continuing to Strossmayerovo náměstí, Letenské náměstí, and terminating at Špejchar.
In addition to Line XC, commuters can also utilize Line 36. This bus route offers an alternative path, running from Zvonařka through I. P. Pavlova, Karlovo náměstí, and Václavské náměstí, then passing Masarykovo nádraží to Florenc, and continuing via Palmovka to Kobylisy. This comprehensive coverage ensures that all affected areas remain accessible despite the metro closure.
Passengers can handle these changes alone. The Prague Transport Company will provide regular announcements on public transport and deploy staff members to guide travelers and answer queries. This proactive approach aims to make the transition smooth for all commuters.
While temporary inconveniences are inevitable, these maintenance works are crucial for Prague’s metro system’s long-term reliability and safety. As the city continues to grow and evolve, so must its infrastructure, ensuring that Prague remains one of Europe’s most efficiently connected capitals.
