Prague Metro’s C Line to Close for Weekend Repairs at Florenc Station

The Prague metro’s C line will be closed between Hlavní nádraží and Vltavská stations from Sunday, April 30th to Monday, May 1st. This closure is due to repairs to the ceiling slab at Florenc station. The Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) has scheduled 26-weekend closures for the renovation of Florence.

Passengers will have to use the XC tram replacement service during the extended weekend closure. The tram will run on the Hlavní nádraží – Masarykovo nádraží – Bílá labuť – Vltavská – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Výstaviště route, departing from a stop on Opletalová street. Line 36 will run from Zvonařka, through Karlovo and Václavské náměstí, then on to Masarykovo nádraží, Vltavská, and Výstaviště. It will then split into two lines at Nádraží Holešovice, with Line 12 heading for Sídliště Barrandov and Line 36 continuing on to Ďáblice.

The closure of the C line may cause disruptions to travel for some commuters and travelers, and the DPP advises passengers to plan their journeys and allow for additional travel time. The renovation work at Florence station is part of a broader plan to modernize the Prague metro system, with improvements planned for other stations and lines. The DPP regularly provides updates on planned closures and disruptions to metro service via its website and social media channels.

While the closure may cause some inconvenience for passengers, the necessary repairs will ultimately improve the safety and comfort of metro users. The Prague metro system is an essential mode of transportation for residents and visitors to the city, and ongoing maintenance and improvements are necessary to ensure its continued success.
