Prague’s public transportation system is implementing significant schedule adjustments during the Christmas and New Year period. During Christmas Eve, daytime bus and tram services will conclude at 6 PM, while New Year’s Eve will see services running until 10 PM, with select routes and metro continuing past midnight.
The modified schedule kicks off on Monday, December 23rd, operating on holiday timetables. Notable changes include the suspension of tram lines 4 and 21. On Christmas Eve, December 24th, services will follow Saturday holiday schedules until 6 PM, with metro continuing until midnight at 20-minute intervals. Night bus and tram services will take over afterward, while main rail lines will operate until 10 PM.
December 25th and 26th will see public transport running on Sunday holiday schedules. New Year’s Eve presents a special arrangement, with regular holiday schedules until 10 PM. Metro service will extend past midnight, with final trains passing through the city center shortly after 2 AM. Multiple bus lines will maintain service until approximately 2:30 AM.
Night trams will run at 15-minute intervals, though guaranteed connections will be suspended. The holiday schedule will continue through January 5th, with slightly reduced service extending until February 28th due to lower ridership demand.
