Prague Strengthens Tram Service for Advent Weekends to Ease Holiday Travel

From November 29 to December 21, Prague will enhance its tram and bus service during four Advent weekends, responding to the surge in travel around the city center during the festive season. Tram intervals on key lines will be shortened from 15 minutes to 12 minutes between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., ensuring more frequent departures and less waiting time for passengers.

Main tram lines 9, 17, 22, and the historic line 23 will experience increased frequency, running every six minutes instead of every 7.5 minutes. Weekend timetables for Saturdays will mirror those of Sundays, providing consistent service and improving overall accessibility for weekend travelers.

The improvements extend to bus services as well. Articulated buses will be deployed on line 207 to accommodate more passengers, and line 112 will increase frequency between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., also utilizing articulated buses exclusively. These changes aim to facilitate smoother movement through the heavily visited city center during Advent.

Additionally, the express airport bus line AE between Václav Havel Airport and Prague’s main railway station will run more frequently, with intervals reduced from 30 minutes to 20 minutes, continuing with hourly service at night through early January. This upgrade is designed to better serve travelers during the busy holiday period.

These enhancements reflect the careful planning by Ropid, the company responsible for organizing Prague’s public transportation, to ensure that holiday travelers experience less congestion and improved service availability. The adjustments promise a more comfortable and convenient ride for anyone navigating the city during the joyous Advent season.
