Property Tax Notices Going Out: Here’s What You Need to Know About Split Payments

The Czech Tax Administration has begun distributing property tax notifications to nearly 4 million taxpayers, with the first payment deadline approaching on June 2nd. The notifications are being sent through various channels to accommodate different taxpayer preferences.

Over a million taxpayers will receive their notifications via data boxes, while another million who opted for email communication will get theirs electronically. Traditional mail delivery will reach approximately 1.8 million recipients, and about 50,000 taxpayers have arranged to pay through SIPO (a centralized payment system).

To facilitate easy payments, the tax authority includes all necessary banking details and QR codes in their notifications. “Internet banking remains the most convenient payment method,” notes Simona Hornochová, Director General of the Tax Administration. “The QR code automatically fills in all required payment information.”

For property owners with assets valued under 5,000 CZK in a single region, a single payment notice covers all properties. Those owning properties across different regions or owing more than 5,000 CZK will receive multiple notices.

Property owners have the option to split their payments if their tax exceeds 5,000 CZK, with installments due on June 2, 2025, and December 1, 2025. For amounts under 5,000 CZK, the full payment is due by June 2nd.
