This Tuesday afternoon, meteorologists have issued warnings about the arrival of intense storms in the Czech Republic, adding to alerts about high temperatures and fire risks. The storms are expected to bring heavy rainfall and hail, primarily affecting the western and southwestern regions of the country.
The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) has stated that isolated storms might form in the afternoon and evening, especially in mountainous areas. Although they are likely highly localized, these storms could be severe in the southwestern half of the Czech Republic.
According to meteorologists, the storms might bring about 30 millimeters of rain in a short period. If such storms occur repeatedly, total rainfall could be even higher. There is also a possibility of hail, with hailstones reaching up to two centimeters in diameter.
The warning is specifically for the Karlovy Vary and Plzeň regions and parts of the Central Bohemian, Ústí nad Labem, and South Bohemian regions, valid from 2 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday.
Alongside the storm warnings, alerts for high temperatures remain on Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures in southern Moravia expected to soar to 34°C.
The influx of warm air into the region is expected to weaken in the coming days gradually. However, in areas like Polabí, Poohří, southern, and central Moravia, temperatures above 31°C are still anticipated on Thursday.
Additionally, a warning for fire risk remains in effect nationwide until further notice.
