As August draws close, the Czech Republic is gearing up for an unexpected heatwave that promises to extend summer well into September. According to meteorologist Dagmar Honsová, temperatures will soar in the coming week, with some areas potentially reaching a sweltering 32°C.
The week will kick off with a cold front on Monday, bringing cloudy skies and occasional showers. However, this will be short-lived as temperatures climb from Tuesday onwards. By Wednesday, the mercury is expected to hit tropical levels, with daytime temperatures ranging from 27 to 31°C.
The heat will intensify further on Thursday, with forecasts predicting temperatures between 28 and 32°C across the country. As Friday approaches, while the heat will persist, there will be an increase in cloud cover and a chance of rain showers and thunderstorms in some areas.
The weekend will bring a slight reprieve from the intense heat, but temperatures will remain decidedly summery. Saturday, we will see partly cloudy skies with a chance of showers or thunderstorms and temperatures ranging from 25 to 29°C, with eastern regions potentially reaching up to 32°C. Sunday will follow a similar pattern, with temperatures settling between 24 and 28°C.
This late summer heatwave reminds us that the warm season isn’t quite ready to bid farewell. Whether you’re planning to squeeze in one last trip to the beach or enjoy the extended summer from your back
