The Future of AI: A Double-Edged Sword

Artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly changes the world, but most people still ignore its potential impact. As a member of two scientific councils, I have attempted to inform Czech intellectual and governmental authorities about AI and its possible consequences. Unfortunately, many still regard it as a toy or a novel application.

However, AI can do almost anything, such as compose songs, sell paintings, and even imitate the voices of famous individuals. Some believe this new world can lead to the most exciting and fantastic innovations in human history. In contrast, others feel that it is a dangerous development that could be misused by those who are unethical or have harmful intentions.

One significant advantage of AI is its ability to answer patient questions with greater empathy and understanding than many doctors can. Additionally, it can identify cancerous tumors in tissue samples or X-rays more accurately than skilled professionals. It can even pass difficult certification exams in various fields, not only medicine.

However, the development of AI continues to progress at an unprecedented pace, which can lead to either progress or the destruction of humanity. While some individuals perceive AI as a means of improving humanity, others fear that it is a precursor to the end of humanity.
