TikTok Captures One-Third of Czech Population, User Base Continues to Expand

The social media landscape in the Czech Republic has witnessed a significant shift as TikTok’s user base surged by ten percentage points over the past two years, now reaching 34% of the population. While maintaining its position as the fifth most popular social network in the country, TikTok’s growth rate trails behind Instagram and Pinterest.Generation Z leads the platform’s adoption, with two-thirds of users under 24 actively engaging with the app. Notably, 29% of these young users contribute content at least weekly. YouTube and Facebook continue to dominate the Czech social media sphere, commanding an impressive 89% and 87% of internet users respectively.

What sets TikTok apart is its extraordinary user engagement metrics. The average user dedicates more than an hour daily to the platform, accumulating approximately 34 hours and 15 minutes monthly. This significantly outperforms Instagram, where users spend just under 17 hours per month.The platform has evolved beyond its initial identity as a dance video sharing app, now attracting prominent political figures. Among its notable users are Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Labor Minister Marian Jurečka, and ANO parliamentary group leader Alena Schillerová.

Globally, TikTok boasts 1.56 billion monthly active users as of Q4 2024, securing its position as the fifth-largest social platform worldwide. Indonesia leads in user numbers with 167 million, followed by the United States with nearly 138 million users.
