Tourism in the Czech Republic Continues to Grow: 3 Million Foreign Visitors Arrived This Spring

The Czech Republic’s tourism industry is experiencing a significant upswing, with over 6.3 million guests staying in hotels, guesthouses, and campsites during the second quarter of 2025. This represents a year-on-year increase of 5.6 percent, according to data recently released by the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ).

Accommodation facilities across the country recorded approximately 15 million overnight stays between April and June, marking a 6.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The growth was driven by both domestic and international travelers, with 3.4 million Czech residents and 3 million foreign visitors contributing to this positive trend.

Roman Mikula, head of the Tourism and Environment Statistics Department at ČSÚ, noted that Czech guests spent about 8 million nights in various accommodations, up 5.3 percent year-on-year. Foreign visitors accounted for 7 million overnight stays, representing an even more impressive increase of 8.8 percent compared to the second quarter of 2024.

All regions of the Czech Republic benefited from this tourism boom, with the Ústí and Olomouc regions seeing the highest growth in visitor numbers. While domestic travelers favored the South Moravian region and Prague, international tourists predominantly visited the capital, followed by the South Moravian and Karlovy Vary regions.

Germany continues to be the largest source of foreign visitors, with approximately 665,000 German tourists staying in Czech accommodations during the spring months. Slovakia and Poland followed, contributing 269,000 and 259,000 visitors respectively. Only the Moravian-Silesian region experienced a slight decrease in foreign visitors, while the Vysočina region saw fewer overnight stays by international guests.
