In the next few days, the Czech Social Security Administration (CSSA) will send information about pension increases to people receiving old-age, disability, or survivors’ pensions. Due to soaring prices, the extraordinary valorization will take place by law in September.
“Beneficiaries will be informed of the increase in pensions by an indexation notice which will be sent out gradually from mid-August to the end of September. In addition to general information, the notifications will contain the specific amounts of pensions and pension supplements received after the increase,” said Jitka Drmolová, spokeswoman for the Czech Social Security Agency.
The valuation notice is a notification letter to pensioners. The valorization notice is to be accompanied by a letter from Labour and Social Affairs Minister Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL) concerning introducing a child-raising allowance from January 2023. This is an “allowance” to the pension of CZK 500 per child raised. It will mainly concern women.
The letter will also concern, for example, the possibility of drawing housing allowances due to the increased cost of living. Pensions are increased automatically and do not have to be applied. According to the government’s decision, the merit part of pensions is to rise by 5.2 percent in September.
“As of June, the average amount of the old-age pension was CZK 17,299,” Drmolová said. According to calculations by the Czech Social Security Agency, the average amount of old-age pensions will increase by 697 crowns to 17 996 crowns.
The September valorization will be the third this year. The pensions were adjusted for the first time in January by an average of CZK 500. In June, they rose by about CZK 1,000.
The average pension will rise significantly again in January, by CZK 850.
