The construction manager has proposed to the Technical Administration of Communications (TSK) that this year’s repairs to the Barrandov Bridge in Prague be completed by October 10.
However, the date is not final as both parties are still negotiating. TSK spokeswoman Barbora Lišková said this after a meeting between TSK, the construction manager, and the construction company Porr on Monday.
The reconstruction started on May 16 this year. Initially, the work was supposed to end on September 2. Due to forced modifications to the project, the completion of the repairs was postponed by 27 days to September 29 in the summer, and now it is the second postponement of the deadline.
“The construction manager, after reviewing all the documents, has submitted a proposal for a completion date of October 10, 2022, for the construction works that restrict traffic on the Barrandov Bridge. This date considers the so-called physical and other unforeseen circumstances on the construction site. TSK also sees reserves in this deadline and will continue negotiating with the construction manager to shorten it,” said Lišková.
The final deadline should be known in the next few days when the builder will comment on it. Then the construction manager, an association of companies led by IDS, Contract Management, and VIS, will present a binding decision.
The construction manager is also a mediator, i.e., an intermediary between TSK and the construction company. If non-compliance with this deadline, TSK will apply penalties based on the contract’s wording.
The 1983 Barrandov Bridge is part of the city ring road and has never been repaired. It is crossed by 140,000 cars daily, making it the busiest street in Prague.
