A 27-year-old man died on Wednesday morning after police intervened in Pilsen. The man was apparently under the influence of drugs, attacked his relatives, and then barricaded himself in the house. Police are investigating the details. Police went to the house in  Plzeň-Lochotín at around 6 a.m., where they had received a report of an assault on a family member, apparently his grandfather.

The man barricaded himself in after the police arrived, and after some time, the officers used coercive measures. The attacker then collapsed and was given first aid, including the use of a defibrillator. However, the man died.

“Police are investigating all the circumstances of the case. We will not provide further information at this time. The man was apparently under the influence of addictive substances, “police spokeswoman Hana Kroftová commented.

It is not yet clear what law enforcement means for police use. It is not clear if anyone in the house was injured.
