Comic-Con Prague 2023: A Pop Culture Extravaganza for Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror Fans

From Friday to Sunday, Prague’s O2 Universum will host a celebration for movie, TV, comic book, and gaming enthusiasts, primarily focusing on sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres. Comic-Con Prague, the renowned Czech pop culture festival, has unveiled the latest updates in its weekend-long program. The event will feature exclusive premieres; other celebrities have confirmed their attendance.

In one weekend and one place, fans of pop culture genres and themes can meet an unprecedented number of actors, comic book artists, writers, and other artists. They can also be among the first to get their hands on the latest offerings in this beloved world. “Every year, we strive to make sure that our visitors experience something ‘wow.’ They have the opportunity to experience a certain level of exclusivity.

And even this year, we won’t deprive them of that. Among other things, the program features an exceptional premiere of the horror film Bloody Johann, of course, with the participation of its creators and actors, as well as a presentation of the very first fantasy series Voyo, entitled Witch, with a delegation of authors and stars who will play in it,” promises Pavel Renčín, the marketing director of Active Radio, the company co-organizing the event.

Actors from Star Wars, ‘Allo ‘Allo, and the new Star Trek are coming

In addition to exciting movie experiences, the final program of the event features other big names. Among the newly confirmed guests are Ian McDiarmid, an actor, and director who has been awarded the prestigious Tony and Olivier awards and who is best known for his role as Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars franchise, as well as the duo of actors from the popular British sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo – Kim Hartman and Richard Gibson.

We can also look forward to the arrival of actress Christina Chong, who has been playing one of the leading roles in the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds series since 2022, or Elodie Grace Orkin, whose name all fans must associate primarily with the series Stranger Things. The list of comic book artists is equally impressive, including newcomers such as R. M. Guéra, Frank Cho, and Mahmud Asrar, as well as beloved Czech representatives.

Film topics are closely related to the special HBO Max zone, which will be connected to the latest hits, Rod of Dragons, with a giant dragon skull backdrop, and The Last of Us. Cinema City will also offer its chill-out zone.

Larger spaces with PokéTour and games, new talks, and workshops

The new festival space will offer a PokéTour on Sunday. Under this name, fans of the Japanese phenomenon Pokémon can learn about the franchise’s history and play games such as Pokémon Sword and Shield. Visitors can also look forward to more workshops and talks, such as a conversation with Christina Chong or a Q&A with author T. A. Barron. The new film Flash Gordon’s 40th Anniversary 4K Restoration will also be screened, and an after-party with DJs.
