ČSOB is under fire from hackers, and some services are not working

Since Friday morning, ČSOB has been facing a cyber attack that has rendered some banking services inoperable. Internet banking and banking applications are down, and paying online by credit card is impossible. The bank announced this on its website.

“Currently, internet banking and smart applications are not working, and it is also impossible to pay by credit card on the internet. Services in the branch network of the ČSOB group and the Czech Post may also be limited,” the bank said.

It added that it is working intensively to restore services. It is not yet clear how long the outage will last.

ČSOB Group is one of the largest domestic banking institutions, with 4.34 million clients. Its net profit rose nine percent to CZK 17.5 billion last year. The group includes ČSOB, Hypoteční banka, ČSOB Stavební spořitelna, ČSOB Penzijní společnost, ČSOB Leasing and ČSOB Factoring.
