Hainan Airlines is set to resume direct flights between Prague and Beijing by the end of June. This official confirmation was announced by Prague Airport, which also marked the commencement of ticket sales. Prices for a return trip start from 15,000 korunas upwards. Flights to China had been suspended due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
From June 24th, Václava Havel Airport in Prague will renew its direct connection with Beijing, China’s capital city. Hainan Airlines will operate an Airbus A330 on the route, accommodating up to 292 passengers. Flights from Prague to Beijing will be available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
“The tickets for the direct flight are already on sale, and the price of a return ticket starts under 15,000 korunas and in business class under 65,000 korunas,” said Josef Trejbal, director of Letuska.cz, to Novinky.
The long-awaited regular route from Prague to Beijing will enrich travel from Prague and influence the prices of other tickets to Asia and beyond. According to Zdopravy.cz, the cheapest tickets between Prague and Beijing are available in the Hainan Airlines booking system for around 30,000 korunas, but some resellers offer them for about half the price.
With a population exceeding twenty million, Beijing is a vibrant blend of modern skyscrapers and many historical landmarks such as the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and Tiananmen Square. Tourists should not miss a trip to the Great Wall of China and the renowned Chinese cuisine.
This connection allows Chinese tourists to return to the Czech Republic, which could benefit entrepreneurs in the tourism industry, restaurateurs, and other traders. “I am pleased that we have restored direct flights to China after long negotiations. While in 2019, more than a record 600,000 tourists from China arrived in the Czech Republic, last year it was only 90,000,” said Jiří Pos, chairman of the board of Prague Airport.
