Swimming in a pond, according to experts, has a greater risk to children than the Covid – 19 vaccination.
According to Jan Trnka, director of the Institute of Biochemistry at Charles University’s 3rd Medical Faculty, even the most minor children can develop the disease more severely. Some children have a rare multisystem syndrome.
It is also challenging to develop collective immunity in children who have not been vaccinated, as researchers estimate that up to 80% of the population must be vaccinated. Vaccination will become even more critical at a time when the high-risk Indian variant is spreading all over the world, Trnka said.
When and at what age should children be vaccinated?
The European Commission previously licensed the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for use in children aged 12 to 15. As a result, Trnka would not hesitate to vaccinate youngsters over the age of 12 years old. He emphasizes that the entire globe is looking for adverse effects and that if any show, vaccines will be halted.
He advises parents to keep in mind that the hazards of vaccination are minor compared to other dangers. “Swimming in a pond is riskier; I would like parents to see it in the context of the risks,” he believes.
