Microbreweries want financial compensation

The Czech-Moravian Association of Microbreweries disagrees with the fact that restaurateurs should check the infection-free status of guests. It’s an interference in business, said Michal Voldřich, president of the association, on Monday. He is therefore demanding financial compensation from the government.

“The government measures have probably hit the microbrewery sector the hardest. Not only did they have to close their restaurant establishments, but their key market, other restaurants, was also closed. As a result, many did not get state compensation, and the long-term closure exhausted all their reserves, ” Voldřich said.

According to him, there is still a lack of foreign guests, and the number of Czech visitors has also halved.

Therefore, the association is asking for at least partial compensation based, for example, on the average of autumn sales from 2018 and 2019.

“And also for the alignment of measures, including the transfer of responsibility for infection-free travel to citizens, not to the business sector,” Voldřich added.
