Prague’s hygiene station has warned about two cosmetic products: a perfume and a set containing hand cream, nail cream, and a nail file. Both products contain a substance that is toxic to reproduction and, therefore, dangerous to human health.
The perfume, in a glass spray bottle shaped like the words “love you!” contains the banned substance lilial, according to the Prague hygienists. The product does not comply with the requirements of the European Parliament and Council of Europe regulations.
“The substance is classified as toxic to reproduction category 1B. The Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety has not approved an exemption for this substance, and lilial, like other substances classified as CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic to reproduction), may not be used as an ingredient in cosmetic products. Tests on animals have shown that lilial is toxic to reproduction, and its use therefore poses a risk to human health,” the Prague hygiene station said in its report.
According to the hygienists, the Let’s Celebrate cosmetic set also contains the same toxic substance as the perfume. The collection includes hand cream, nail cream, and a nail file.
Both products were found by hygienists in the Drogerie Barvy Laky store – the JANA store in Česká Skalice.
It is vital for consumers to be aware of the potential dangers of cosmetics and to carefully read the labels and ingredients of the products they use.
The Importance of Safe Cosmetics
The use of cosmetics is widespread and has become a part of daily life for many people. However, it is essential to remember that not all cosmetic products are safe. Many contain harmful chemicals that can be dangerous to human health.
In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the potential dangers of cosmetics and increased scrutiny of the ingredients used in these products. Consumers now demand safer and more natural products, and companies are responding by developing new products free of harmful chemicals.
Lilial: A Banned Substance
Lilial is commonly used in perfumes and other cosmetic products to give them a floral scent. However, it has been banned in the European Union since 2018. The substance is toxic to reproduction and has been linked to several health problems, including allergies, asthma, and eczema.
Consumers should be aware of the potential dangers of lilial and avoid products that contain this substance. It is essential to read the labels of cosmetic products carefully and to look for products free of harmful chemicals.
The Let’s Celebrate Set
The Let’s Celebrate cosmetic set is another product that has been found to contain the banned substance lilial. The collection includes hand cream, nail cream, and a nail file and is sold in the Czech Republic.
Consumers who have purchased this product should stop using it immediately and return it to the store where it was purchased. They should also consult a healthcare professional if they experience adverse reactions.
