People between the ages of 55 and 59 will be likely to register for the covid-19 vaccine from Wednesday 28.04.20. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš will propose this to the government’s health risk council on Monday.

According to Health Minister Petr Arenberger, vaccination against covid-19 could be accelerated even further, as the increase in the number of deliveries will allow 100,000 doses to be administered per day for several weeks. There are about 750,000 people of this age in the Czech Republic, some of whom have already been vaccinated because they belong to a different preferred group. Such as health professionals, teachers, and other educational workers or patients with serious chronic illnesses.

According to the Minister of Health, registration can be opened for another group of people, because in some regions elderly people are already vaccinated. Arenberg also mentioned that the next age group will probably be able to register next week.

As of now, almost 1.8 million people received at least one dose of the vaccine and 920,000 people got two doses.
