Due to melting snow and heavy rain, meteorologists expect rising river levels in southwest Bohemia, possibly reaching the second level of flood activity. In addition, there will be a risk of icy conditions until Friday morning.

Stream levels may be dangerous in South Bohemia and the Pilsen and Central Bohemia regions.

“We expect rising streams in the Lužnice basin, especially in the streams draining the Šumava, Bohemian Forest, and Brdy. On these streams, from Thursday evening to Sunday, the 1st, and occasionally even the 2nd level of flood activity may be exceeded,” said the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ), according to which the highest probability of exceeding the 2nd level is on the streams draining the ridge parts of the Šumava.

In addition, there will be a threat of ice formation in western and southern Moravia until Friday morning. The warning is valid for parts of Vysočina, South Moravia, Pardubice, Olomouc, and Moravia-Silesia regions.
