Strong winds are expected to sweep through the Czech Republic, meteorologists warn

Strong winds will hit the Czech Republic on Friday and Saturday. Winds are expected to blow from the west and gust up to 90 kilometers per hour.

The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute’s (ČHMÚ) warning will be in effect in the afternoon in the western regions of Bohemia and extend to the Vysočina region and southern Bohemia in the evening.

From Saturday noon, it will extend to the rest of the territory except for Zlín and parts of the South Moravian Region.

The warning will remain in force until 10 p.m. on Saturday.

On the waterlogged ground, meteorologists predict branches will break, and trees will be uprooted. Warm winds and rain will cause rapid snowmelt in the mountains.
