Strong winds will rush through the Czech Republic, meteorologists warn

Strong winds will hit the Czech Republic on Wednesday and Thursday. While Wednesday is expected to bring strong winds only in the west and northeast of the country, the warning will extend to the whole territory on Thursday, with winds gusting up to 110 kilometers per hour.

Wednesday’s warning of winds gusting up to 70 kilometers per hour will cover Prague, Karlovy Vary, Plzeň, Moravia-Silesia, and parts of Ústí nad Labem, Central Bohemia, South Bohemia and Olomouc regions.

On Thursday, winds will increase, and the weather warning will be raised. South-west to west winds is expected across the area, gusting from 70 to 110 kilometers per hour. The notice will remain in effect until 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Strong winds will still be threatened until midnight on Friday, again with gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour. Meteorologists are expecting possible power problems as well as broken branches and trees.
