A 45-year-old repeat offender was driving around Prague in a stolen car marked as a taxi. In the car, he had many license plates, tools, and drugs. He now faces up to two years in prison.
The driver ran into a police patrol last Wednesday on Sulická Street. He accelerated rapidly when he saw it, drawing attention to himself, and the officers decided to stop him. However, they did not see any documents after stopping him, even though they found that the man was banned from driving.
“However, that was far from the only offense he committed. The vehicle was reported stolen a fortnight ago, as were the registration plates that were placed on the car, ” said police spokesman Richard Hrdina.
During a search of the car, officers found many other registration plates and documents of other vehicles. They also found tools used to break the locks.
They found drugs on the 32-year-old female passenger. The man now faces up to two years behind bars for committing the offense of obstructing the execution of an official decision and eviction.
“How he got hold of the stolen vehicle and documents is part of the further investigation,” Hrdina added. The female passenger may also face prosecution.
Police did not disclose whether the man used the car to transport customers.
