Thieves Attempt Break-In at Former ČSSD Headquarters, Find Nothing to Steal

Thieves wanted to break into the former headquarters of the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) in Prague 8. There was nothing to steal. The party branch is in disrepair, and someone recently smashed a window and likely broke in.

The party’s secretary for Prague, Lucie Žemličková, confirmed that they no longer use the space. “They don’t currently have one, but they’re operating normally,” Žemličková said.

Karel Šašek, a member of the regional leadership of ČSSD Prague, said that the party’s members in Prague 8 now meet at the party’s headquarters. “We handed it over last year, probably in October or November. Now we meet in Lidový dům. It’s not limiting. Although they are members of Prague 8, it’s not far from Lidový dům. Public transportation goes there, so it’s okay,” he said.

“We terminated the lease agreement with Prague 8 in the fall of 2022. Since then, we haven’t been using the space,” he added.

It should be noted that the former headquarters of ČSSD Prague 8 is located near the Palmovka metro station on Zenklova Street. The eighth district is generally considered one of the most crime-ridden areas in Prague.
