Tropics and thunderstorms will dominate the week

Above-average temperatures and occasional thunderstorms will accompany the last week of June. The tropics should last until the weekend when it cools down. Meteorologist Dagmar Honsová told the news agency.

The night on Monday was tropical. At the Maruška station in the Zlín region, the temperature did not fall below 20 °C. Monday will also be tropical during the day, with afternoon temperatures reaching 35 °C.

It will initially be clear to partly cloudy on Monday, with clouds increasing in the west during the afternoon and evening and showers and thunderstorms in the evening.

Thunderstorms, occasionally powerful, will continue to occur overnight on Tuesday. “In Bohemia, it will be cloudy to overcast, with rain, showers, and occasional thunderstorms, which will weaken during the second half of the night. Moravia and Silesia will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with only isolated showers or thunderstorms until the morning. Fog will form sporadically in the morning,” Honsová said.

On Tuesday morning, temperatures will range between 21 and 15 degrees Celsius. During the day, it will be cloudy to partly cloudy, and thunderstorms may form again in the early evening. Clouds and precipitation will increase from the southwest. Afternoon temperatures will stay between 23 and 27 degrees, with around 30 degrees in the country’s east.

Rain or showers will prevail first on Wednesday, with thunderstorms in places. Temperatures will drop to 19 to 15 °C in the morning. Precipitation should gradually taper off from the west. Clouds will increase in the evening, and thunderstorms or rain may occur again. During the day, temperatures will range from 24 to 28 degrees Celsius, with highs of 34 degrees Celsius in the east.

Cloudy skies will prevail on Thursday, with showers or thunderstorms possible with a temporary increase in cloud cover. Morning lows will be 18-14 °C, with daytime lows of 28-32 °C.

It should be very similar on Friday. Partly cloudy skies may give way to cloudy skies during the day, with showers or thunderstorms. Temperatures will fall to 18-14 degrees Celsius in the morning and rise to 29-33 degrees during the day.

“The weekend will bring a drop in air temperatures. Especially on Saturday, there will be more clouds and precipitation, with thunderstorms in places,” Honsová summarised.

On Saturday, morning temperatures will be between 18 and 14 °C, while during the day, they will reach 21 to 25 °C and, in the east, up to 27 °C.

It will be partly cloudy to cloudy on Sunday, with isolated showers or thunderstorms. Morning temperatures will range between 18 and 14 degrees Celsius, rising to 22-27 degrees Celsius during the day.
