Up to 15 centimeters of snow fell in Olomouc. It will continue to snow

The new snow on Friday complicated traffic in places. In the higher altitudes of the Olomouc Region, up to 15 cm of snow fell during the night, and road workers had their hands full. At the moment, the precipitation is mainly in southern Bohemia.

Eight centimeters fell in Jeseník and up to 15 centimeters in the higher altitudes of the Zlatohorie region. “In the Jeseniky region, new snow lies in all areas except Javorník and Vidnava, where the roads remain bare and wet. However, there is already a layer of fresh, heavy wet snow from the middle positions. A slush of wet snow remains on the roadways; it can be slippery, especially on inertly maintained streets. So far, the forecast is that it will continue to snow today and on Saturday, “the dispatcher of the Jesenice road engineers said on Friday.

Precipitation is also complicating the passability in the Moravian-Silesian region. There may be remnants of melted snow on chemically maintained roads, and drivers should be more careful.

On Friday morning, snow was falling at higher altitudes in southern Bohemia. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) expects up to 25 cm of new snow to fall on Friday. A snowfall warning is in force until midnight in parts of the Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian regions.
