As we approach the observance of Victory Day on May 8th, many wonder about the impact on their everyday activities, particularly shopping. Victory Day, commemorating World War II’s end in Europe is a significant holiday in the Czech Republic and many European countries.
Expect a change in the usual rhythm of commerce on this day. Most stores will be closed, specifically those over 200 square meters. This rule applies nationwide, but exceptions exist for certain establishments, such as gas stations, pharmacies, and stores in airports and train stations.
Interestingly, some shopping centers will remain open, allowing customers to shop at smaller stores within the centers. Delivery services will also be in operation, offering home delivery of purchases and providing an alternative for those who prefer not to venture out or are unable to do so.
